About us

Southern Africa is facing severe violations of children’s human rights, usually hidden on several types of abuses, including child sexual and commercial exploitation and human trafficking. Child Trafficking for exploitation has been widely denounced as a form of "modern slavery." It is included among the "Worst Forms of Child Labour", as defined by the ILO Convention 182. According to this convention, fundamental rights of children violated in a trafficking process include:

  • The right to liberty and security of person;
  • The right to be free from physical violence and inhuman or degrading treatment;
  • The right not to be subjected to slavery, forced labour or servitude, and the right to just, fair and safe working conditions.

Mission

SANTAC mission is to build synergies amongst Southern Africa institutions and individuals to fight against all manifestations of child abuse, in particular child sexual and commercial exploitation, child labour and trafficking of children for any purpose, through lobby and advocacy, protection, law reform, rehabilitation and care services for victims.

Vision

SANTAC vision is to create a Southern Africa free of child abuse, exploitation and human trafficking for any purpose.
