2007 Conference on Prevention of Trafficking and Abuse of Children in Kopanong, Johannesburg (December)

This conference was scheduled during the SANTAC Constitutive General Assembly on the 7th of February 2007 with the objective of:

  • meeting all key actors and stakeholders of Southern Africa to discuss issues related to trafficking and abuse of children;
  • developing an understanding about the nature and manifestations of trafficking and abuse of children in Southern Africa;
  • sharing information and experiences on child trafficking in the region and seeking joint forms of responding to this problem discussing strategies of intervention and prevention against child trafficking in the region;
  • reinforcing the network, as well as the initiatives and the assumed commitment in this domain of child trafficking presenting the compiled report of the study results done in some countries of the region;
  • presenting a declaration containing actions to combat child trafficking in the region.
