Macrolane VRF which stands for the Volume Restoration Factor is a body contour filler made by Q-Med, the makers of Restylane, a range of highly sought after dermal fillers. It is an easy and natural way to contour your body and make it look naturally beautiful.
Macrolane is made using the patented NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) technology which produces a thicker, smoother hyaluronic acid injectable gel that is designed to give long term effects.
Macrolane Volume Restoration Factor products are used for volume restoration and shaping of body surfaces. Macrolane VRF can be used in different parts of the body such as the breasts, buttocks, and calves. They can also be used to even out bumpiness in the skin which is often caused by liposuction.
Macrolane VRF product range offers two different types of volume formulations. The product range includes the Macrolane VRF 20 and the Macrolane VRF 30. Macrolane 30 provides an increased volume over the Macrolane 20. The two products can be used separately but can also be combined for optimum results.
According to Q-Med, the makers of Macrolane, the Macrolane VRF treatment lasts for approximately 12-18 months. However, this figure is heavily dependent on the degree of correction required, the patients’ age and lifestyle as well as the location of the product by a certified practitioner. However, Q-Med does recommend that each individual treatment should be followed by an annual re-touch to sustain ideal results. However, the long-term sustainability of Macrolane VRF treatment is unknown as the product is still fairly new in the market.
The treatment last for 30 minutes to 45 minutes. It involves a 2-3 mm incision on the part where the Macrolane VRF is to be injected normally under the crease of a breast or a buttock. The Macrolane VRF is injected into the target site by using a thin cannula or a large gauge spinal needle in the subcutaneous layer of the skin. The patient is under local anesthetic to minimize any discomfort they might feel. Your doctor may also prescribe you a course of antibiotics before or after the procedure to minimize the risk of any infection.
As with any cosmetic product, there are a few categories of people who are advised and strongly encouraged to not use the Macrolane VRF treatment. These people are:
- Pregnant or breast feeding women
- People with an auto immune disease
- People who are allergic to hyaluronic acid
Macrolane VRF treatment is not designed to be used around the face and should not be used there. Moreover, a study by renowned European surgeons concluded that getting Macrolane VRF treatment in the breast does not get in the way of the detection, diagnosis or treatment of any breast disease.
There a few side effects to using Macrolane VRF treatment as well such as mild discomfort, swelling and slight bruising. However, these effects should fade within the first few days of treatment. Moreover, the scars formed over the point of entry of the Macrolane VRF will fade in a few months.
