In this day and age of social media and increasing self-obsession; procedure that enhance facial appearance are gaining popularity. Procedures like injecting fillers that are not invasive and require little to no recuperation time are especially in demand. Traditionally, fillers have been injected using sharp needles but blunt tip cannulas are fast becoming a more desired replacement for them. A blunt cannula is also called a microcannula; it is a specific type of cannula which has a blunt edge and comprises of a small tube. A blunt cannula also has a small pore or extrusion port at its end which is used for sub-dermal injections.
Needles are being replaced by blunt tip cannulas because of the advantages blunt cannulas present over them. Doctors, nowadays, use whichever of the two they prefer but are fast acknowledging the benefits of using the blunt tip cannula and are favoring it. One of the foremost advantages that blunt cannulas have over sharp tipped needles is that they can cover a larger area in a single injection and require fewer entrance points. In certain instances, it is even possible to inject dermal filler in the upper lip line, the lips, the nasolabial folds and the lower cheek using only one single entrance point. In contrast to this, a sharp needles covers much less area and requires more punctures. This advantage reduces discomfort for the patient during the procedure itself and during recovery; it also shortens the time that the procedure takes. Using both blunt cannulas and mirco needles for fillers is beneficial, but each of them contains different advantages depending on their sizes.
